Basbousa Cake with Cream
Ingredients

Mix 1.5 cups of semolina with 1 tablespoon of baking powder and set them aside.

In another bowl, combine 2 eggs, 1 pinch of vanilla, 3/4 cup of sugar, 1 cup of yogurt, 1 cup of cream, and 3/4 cup of vegetable oil

Mix them well until combined.

Add the dry ingredients mixture (semolina and baking powder) to the wet mixture and stir until fully combined.

In a pot, combine 3 cups of milk, 3 tablespoons of cornstarch, 1 tablespoon of semolina, 3/4 cup of cream, and 1 tablespoon of cream

Stir over low heat until you get a creamy consistency

Grease a baking pan with ghee, then pour in half of the semolina batter, add the cream mixture in the middle, and top with the remaining batter.

Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes.

For the syrup, combine 1 cup of sugar, 3/4 cup of water, a pinch of vanilla, or 1/2 teaspoon of rose water, and a squeeze of lemon juice in a pot.

Stir well until it reaches the consistency shown in the video

Once the basbousa is out of the oven and still hot, pour the hot syrup over it.
