  • 1CupFine semolina
  • 2.25CupSugar
  • 1CupMilk powder
  • 1PinchSalt
  • 0.5Grams (g) Instant yeast
  • 0.5CupOil
  • 1CupWarm water
  • 1.25Cupwater
  • 1Psc.Lemon juice
  • 1Teaspoons (tsp)Cinnamon

Steps

    In a large glass bowl, add all dry ingredients: flour, semolina, sugar, milk powder, salt, and yeast.

    Add the oil-ghee mixture and rub it into the dry ingredients.

    Add warm water and knead lightly until the dough just comes together.

    Cover the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.

    Prepare the syrup: dissolve sugar in water over heat.

    Add lemon juice, boil for 5 minutes, then turn off heat and let it cool.

    Form small dough balls.

    Press each ball onto a strainer or tool to shape it like Zeinab’s Fingers.

    Deep fry them in medium-hot oil until golden brown.

    Immediately transfer to cold syrup for a few seconds.

    Drain excess syrup, sprinkle with cinnamon, and serve.
