  • 500PacketDates paste
  • 3Milliliters (mL)Melted butter
  • 1Teaspoons (tsp)Cinnamon
  • 0.5CupOlive oil
  • 0.5Teaspoons (tsp)Ghee
  • 0.5CupWarm milk

Steps

    Mix the flour, sesame seeds, black cumin, sugar, anise, mahleb, and baking powder in a bowl.

    Add the olive oil and corn oil or ghee, and knead them together using the "bas" method.

    Gradually add warm milk while kneading until the dough becomes smooth and soft (you may need to add more than half a cup depending on the type of flour).

    To prepare the filling, mix the dates with butter or ghee, cinnamon, and cake spices (optional).

    Roll out the dough into a rectangle shape using a rolling pin, between two plastic sheets.

    Roll out the date paste in the same way, between two sheets of plastic.

    Place the date paste on top of the dough, then fold them together. Cut into circles using a sharp knife.

    Arrange the pieces on a baking tray and bake them in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes, then allow them to brown.
