    We wear gloves to protect our hands from the tiny invisible spines

    We wash the prickly pears under running water to remove as many spines as possible.

    We place the fruit on a cutting board

    We use a sharp knife to cut off both ends of the fruit (top and bottom).

    We make a vertical slit along the peel without cutting into the pulp

    We carefully open the peel with the knife’s tip or with our hands (if wearing gloves) and separate the inner pulp from the outer skin.

    We place the pulp in a serving dish, and it's best served chilled.
