We heat some olive oil in a pot over the stove, then add the chopped onion and sauté it lightly until it softens.

We add the minced garlic and stir it with the onion until fragrant.

We add the tomato paste and mix everything well until combined.

We add the washed lentils and rice, and stir the mixture for about three minutes.

We add salt and black pepper to taste.

We pour in the hot water mixed with chicken bouillon and stir.

We cover the pot and let it cook on medium heat for about 30 minutes until the lentils and rice are tender and the texture becomes thick.

We use a hand blender to blend the soup either halfway or fully, according to preference.

To make the tasha, put the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of tomato paste in a skillet on the stove.

We add cumin, paprika, and turmeric and stir the spices well.
