Ingredients

  • 1CupBrown Lentils
  • 2CupCoarse Bulgur
  • 2Psc.Onion
  • 0.25CupOlive oil
  • 2PinchSalt
  • 1To TasteBlack pepper
  • 0.5Teaspoons (tsp)Cumin

Steps

    Wash the lentils and Bulgur thoroughly and drain

    In a medium pan, add olive oil and fry the sliced onions until they turn brown and crispy, then remove with a slotted spoon and reserve the oil

    In the same pan, add the lentils, cover with water, bring to a boil, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until they are cooked but not mushy.

    When the lentils are nearly cooked, add the Bulgur along with the salt, pepper, cumin, and the reserved olive oil. Add more water so it nearly covers the ingredients.

    Cook on low heat until fully cooked, adding more water if necessary.

    Turn off the heat, add more olive oil, and carefully toss everything together

    Serve with another drizzle of olive oil and garnish with the caramelized onions.
