    Grease the baking pan well with melted butter.

    Fold the phyllo sheets by placing two sheets together, or fold one large sheet in half, then scrunch it up like a fan.

    Arrange the scrunched phyllo in the pan and brush it with the remaining melted butter.

    Place the pan in a preheated oven at 185°C.

    While it bakes, prepare the custard mixture by adding the eggs and liquid vanilla to a bowl.

    Add the sugar and milk, then whisk until the ingredients are well combined.

    After 10 minutes of baking, remove the pan from the oven carefully.

    Pour the milk and egg mixture evenly over the phyllo.

    Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown.

    Remove from the oven and immediately pour the cold syrup over it, allowing it to soak in completely.
