Cut the onion into small cubes

Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and sauté until slightly softened.

Add the rinsed red lentils, rice, and minced garlic.

Stir all the ingredients together for a minute.

Add the boiling water (about 2 liters) and bring the mixture to a boil.

Once it boils, reduce the heat to the lowest setting and let it cook until the ingredients are completely tender.

When the lentils and rice are cooked, blend the soup using a blender until smooth.

In a small pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil, then add the tomato paste, turmeric, paprika, black pepper, cumin, and dried mint.

Stir the ingredients well for about a minute over low heat.

Add a bit of the soup to the pan and mix to blend the flavors.

Return this spiced mixture to the main soup pot and stir well.

Let the soup simmer for 2 to 3 more minutes.
