Steps

    We prepare a small pan or skillet to roast the spices.

    We add the sweet spice (or Chinese five-spice), cardamom, dried coriander, cloves, and black pepper.

    We place the spices on the heat and roast them for about 1 minute to bring out the best flavor.

    We add bay leaves and dill seeds during roasting.

    We remove the spices from the heat and let them cool in a bowl.
